Pre-Marital Relationship

As a normal teenager, I do wonder about love sometimes. What is it and what is the meaning behind its existence. Why does Allah SWT wants His creature to own this fascinating feeling.
Unfortunately, most of the time human could not make a difference between love and lust. Does true love even exist in our world? If yes, how to identify a true love? Some of us would say having a relationship is the answer. The effective way to test and prove our love.
Thus, so many unmarried people especially Moslem teenagers start to have a relationship with their opposite gender which is absolutely prohibited in Islam.

One just needs to visit their local shopping centre, cinema, or even library to see the significant increase in unmarried Moslem couples. We have an increase in Romeo’s searching on the streets, joyfully driving around all day looking for a girl and an increase in melodramatic Juliet who ‘will just die if they don’t end up with their men’.
Many of our Moslem brothers and sisters justify themselves by saying  that “its okay because we have the intention to marry”. However they fail to realize that death can come knocking at anytime and the excuse “its okay because we have the intention to marry” will not be accepted in the Court of Allah.
Love is often described as a sickness that impairs the mental state, covers one’s vision and sense of reasons. But one should know since there is no permanence to our world, hence the nature of our worldly infatuations is also temporary.
Being patient until marriage might be frustrating and uncomfortable but its benefits are far greater than any temporary pleasure attained in falling into sin. May Allah blesses and keep us firm in the face of temptations. Amen.
